WPNA Constitution
A. Name
The name of the group is Wirral Practice Nurse Association
B. Mission Statement
- To include all WPNA nurses with up-to-date information
- To encourage unity, ongoing education and support within the group Wirral-wide
- To share best practice across the board
- To improve quality of care for patients
- To heighten awareness of WPNA as a proactive group
- To support practice nurses in their work
C. The Committee
- The committee will give 21 days notice of the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- At the WPNA AGM, held in January of each year, the members shall elect from amongst themselves a Chair, Vice-Chair, a Secretary, Treasurer and an Events Co-ordinator, who shall hold office from the conclusion of that meeting
- Applications for the above posts should be submitted in writing to the Chair 7 days prior to the AGM. These applications will be discussed by the committee prior to the AGM
- Committee members may change their job role within the committee after one year if they wish
- All members of the Committee shall retire from office together at the AGM, but they may be re-elected or re-appointed. In the instance of a vote being taken and the votes being tied, the Chair will have the casting vote
D. Membership
- Proposals/Changes. In the instance of a vote being taken and the votes being tied, the chair will have the casting vote
- Subs of £15 per annum run from January to January (this sum is subject to increase if necessary)
- A register of affiliated members will be kept on record by the Treasurer
- Cards/flowers can be sent to practice nurses who are ill, retire or have a close family bereavement. (available to fully paid up members by written request)
- Retired paid up members of WPNA (10 Years) are welcome to attend the AGM as a guest
E. Training and Development
(available to fully paid up members of 2 years or more, subject to available funds with a written request prior to the event)
- The WPNA will sponsor two places for the annual practice nurse conference
- Book bursary for recognised courses on written request subject to available funds, maximum bursary of £50 per practice nurse per year
- Voluntary work (related to Health or patient care) that incurrs a loss of at least 1 weeks wages to be considered on an individual basis
- A register of granted bursaries will be kept. Receipts must be forwarded to the treasurer
- All applications will be discussed by the committee and assessed on a individual basis
- Provide a forum for discussion
